Speak up
So today I decided I was going to take my mom to Walgreens and show her how my deal scenario would work, only to find her total was $17 and change. When they told us that was at the sale price, we left without the purchase. Later today I visited a Walgreens near my house and while everything rang up correctly, the cashier tried to tell me that they would not accept my coupons because they were for more than the purchase price of the item. Now, while this was true, the total price would not give me an overage. I asked for a manager who told the cashier to try to ring the coupons up...and what do you know? They all worked! Moral of the story...if you have a cashier who doesn't understand couponing, ask for a manager! It also helps if you print out the store coupon policies here and bring them with you into the store. Happy couponing!
